LAB hearts The Drake Devonshire

The view from the owners suite is breathtaking.

I have had a major soft spot for The Drake for over 10 years. The Toronto boutique hotel opened the year I moved here, and I instantly felt a kinship. Years later, I moved in with my future husband just down the street, and The Drake became our kitchen, dancefloor, stage, and, eventually, our wedding aisle. LAB even did a pop-up there once upon a time, before pop ups were a dime a dozen. ;)

I patiently awaited the opening of the Drake's much-anticipated Prince Edward County outpost, dying to get out there and enjoy the solitude, but with the Drake comforts I had grown accustomed to.

I made my first visit to The Drake Devonshire last February for a relaxing weekend getaway with the girls. (Check out my full TripAdvisor.ca review here.) This past weekend, however, I really got to see the Devonshire in action as a multipurpose event venue.

The Drake hired four coach buses to transport tastemakers from Toronto to PEC for a belated opening party, and we decided to make it an overnight trip. (Sadly, The Devonshire was all booked for the night, so we got a room just around the corner at the lovely Newsroom Suites.) Sweeping Lake Ontario views, a glorious seafood buffet, live music, tacos, local wine... the list of fantastic things about The Devonshire's Saturday fete goes on and on.

Many congrats to Jeff Stober and Bill Simpson on yet another stunning venture. The Drake Dev is a must-see experience. Whether it's for a cocktail, a meal, or a weekend away, it's well worth the drive to Wellington.
